The RIPE NCC MyASN service
Do you operate a network? Do you know when another AS announces your prefix?
With the RIPE NCC MyASN service, you will!
Why MyASN helps you
The MyASN service notifies network operators when a prefix is announced with an
incorrect AS path. An AS path is seen as incorrect when it does not match with a regular expression.
As not everyone is familiar with regular expressions, MyASN provides several easy ways to define
typical checks, like "the origin of this prefix must be AS x" or "the origin of this
prefix must be AS x and transit may be provided through y or z".
However, as any AS path regular expression can be set, the MyASN service is suitable for regular
expressions gurus as well.
Notifications
The MyASN service can send alerts by e-mail or to your own syslog server.
Alarms can be divided in different groups that each have their own syslog and e-mail notification
settings. Alarms have many options to configure, including the option for a set of more specific
prefixes to be excluded from alarms.
RIS
The MyASN service generates alerts from data gathered by the RIPE NCC
routing information service which has a very wide view on internet routing from many locations.
It has over 600 peers and is likely to spot announcements of your address space by other ASes.
Open
MyASN is open to be used by anyone. You don't have to be a Local Internet Registry (LIR) and your
ASN doesn't have to be assigned by the RIPE NCC.
There are no fees to use the MyASN service.
